That depends in your lender. Some charge a late fee even if it is only a day late. Others will give you a grace period of between 10 and 15 days.

Usually the payment is due on the 1st, but there is a 10- to 15-day grace period for most. Your statement will likely have a regular installment amount shown without late fees, anda "if not paid by" date amount with late fee incorporated. If you mail your payment in, send it so they will receive prior to the "late" date. Mine is due on the 1st, but I mail it then so it's definitely received by the 11th (my late date).

It's possible there may be no grace period. If you don't see it on your statement, then you'll have to dig up your original note signed when you bought the house to see what the deadline is and what, if any, late fee might apply.

Your loan should be paid the day it's due. They want the money in their hands that day. This is what you agreed to do, and they expect you to do that.

Check your loan docs and see if there's any kind of grace period. They may not use that term. It may say you're late if you pay after a certain date. It will also spell out what the penalty for paying late will be.

Depending on the kind of loan you have, you may be able to get the due date changed.

Maybe.
READ you note, your loan documents.
It is DUE on 1rst, but may not be late until 15th.
Not late payment penalties until after the set date, but you pay interest for EACH of those days you don't pay.
