I can only reckon of three, regulatory, currency and fraud? are there any other risks faced by commercial banks?

In Malaysia, the government through Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is the only bank that is permitted to make and issue the currency. Do you reckon the commercial banks (i.e. Bumiputra Commerce, Maybank, etc) should be permitted to issue their own private bank notes in competition with Bank Negara?

Whenever currency is deposited in a commercial bank, cash goes out of circulation and, as a result, the supply of money is reduced. Do you agree? Clarify why or why not.
