What should I look for in a good mortgage lender?

I’m getting ready to shop for my first home so I’m looking for a excellent lender. But I’m not sure what qualities to look for in a lender. Should I shop around, or are they generally all the same?

    Always shop. Use the huge ones as they are MUCH less likely to nickel and dime. Ditech and Bank Of America have fantastic programs, especially for firs time buyers. Stay away from mortgage brokers!

    Reputation, reputatiion, reputation!

    Question around, get a few quotes, check licensing, check the Better Business Bureau and follow your gut.
